Pasco County 4-H Team Competes in National 4-H Livestock Judging Contest

On November 14, 2017, the North American International Livestock Exposition hosted the 2017 National 4-H Livestock Judging Contest at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky. Florida 4-H was represented this year by your 2017 state champion livestock judging team from Pasco County 4-H.

Team members included Tierani Johnson, Emily Jennings, Taylynn Williamson and Bailey Mckendree. Together, as a team, they placed fourth in beef, thirteenth in reasons and seventeenth overall. Individually, Johnson was third in the beef division, second in reasons, eighth in the sheep division and eighth overall, with 34 teams and 124 individuals competing.

Congratulations to this outstanding team on their state championship, each of their accomplishments preparing for the national contest and their achievements in Louisville.

Livestock judging is an event designed to test the evaluation and decision making skills of students through evaluating market and breeding beef cattle, swine, sheep and meat goats as well as the defense of their placings via oral reasons.
