On Sunday, October 18, the American Royal Association hosted the 2020 American Royal 4-H/FFA Livestock Judging Contest in Kansas City, Mo.
This year, Florida 4-H was represented in the 4-H division by your 2020 reserve state champion team, named in August, with team members Bailey Lavender, Connor Ward, Kylie Ward and Bradley Nelson. They are coached by Suzanne Archer.
As a team, they placed fourth in beef, seventh in reasons and tenth in sheep and goats, and were named as the tenth high team overall.
Bailey Lavender placed as the high individual in the beef division, as the reserve high individual for reasons, tenth in swine, and twelfth overall individually.
Connor Ward placed tenth in the beef division and eleventh in sheep and goats, and was named as the sixteenth high individual overall.
The purpose of Livestock Judging is to test the evaluation and decision making skills of youth through evaluating live market and breeding beef cattle, swine, sheep and meat goats, as well as defense of their placings using public speaking skills through oral reasons.
First Place Florida would also like to recognize your 2020 third place state team, Union County 4-H, for also qualifying to compete in Kansas City, but were not able to compete. Their team was made up of Kendal Stalnaker, Sierra Graham, Hunter Williams and Tatum Howard. They were coached by Jason Stalnaker. (Photo Unavailable at Publishing)
