WHAT IS THIS?
The livestock industry is evolving. Our youth are the future of the industry, and the activities that prepare them for bright futures within should be evolving as well.
First Place Florida answered this call last season amidst the COVID-19 cancellations, and hosted the first online livestock judging event designed just for Florida's youth, as an eligible contest in our Sunshine State Cup series, when our youth lost several valuable opportunities for practice from the pandemic.
While we hope that the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are over soon, First Place Florida is proud to continue this event into the 2020-2021 season, by providing another opportunity for our youth to practice their skills with some top-notch classes and competition from around the state.
For 2020-2021, Online in the Sunshine will consist of fall and spring events, that are FREE and open to ALL YOUTH from Florida, high school seniors and younger. Youth are invited to judge six classes of livestock, just as they would at an in-person contest, and submit their placings via an online form. The classes are taken, with permission, from past national-caliber events from around the country, with the officials from the original contest used to give youth a chance to judge some outstanding livestock.
While this is not the "traditional" way to host a "contest," we believe in answering the call for youth livestock activities to evolve as the livestock industry changes. Online "invitational" events similar to this one for livestock and other events take place in states such as Texas and California throughout the season, and the first of these contests as well as our entire Online Jackpot Judging Series were resounding successes in early 2020.
More information will be posted here when it is available, and we hope that you and your team will find these opportunities valuable. Please feel free to Contact Us with any questions, and be sure to check out our Online Jackpot Judging Series that is returning as well throughout the 2020-2021 season, and with our friends at JudgingCard for more outstanding events like this from around the U.S. throughout the season.
