LivestockOrganizations_Header_Correct

If you show livestock, it is likely that you got your start through a 4-H club or FFA chapter, but did you know that there are many other organizations out there created specifically for different types of livestock, designed to support youth involved with their breed or species?

Commonly referred to as "breed associations" or "points circuits," there are a variety of organizations — on both the state and national levels — dedicated to advancing youth involvement in a particular breed or species of livestock. These organizations offer additional opportunities for showmen who join, from shows, to educational opportunities, leadership roles and others.

Many of these organizations host a "junior national" show each summer, designed to bring together the best youth members from around the country for a show dedicated to that particular breed or specie, educational contests, social activities, friendship and camaraderie. These organizations are also often led by a team of youth officers or a "junior board," making them for youth, by youth (with some adult help, of course) and some also offer leadership and industry partnership conferences as well.

A list of both state-level and national-level organizations for cattle, swine, sheep and goats is provided below. Links to each organization's website, as applicable, are included in the descriptions, and you can also access their social media, as applicable, by clicking on the logos.

(While First Place Florida strives to maintain accurate information, this page is designed to be an informational resource only. If you are interested in becoming involved with one of these organizations, please consult their website or a member of their leadership for the most up-to-date information as things occasionally change.)
